Reaming Vs No Reaming
Reaming requires skills and time that may not always be available when changing king pins. Differences in King Pin Repair Kits
All king pin lits are not equal. Four options are available:
*Steel backed bronze *Nylon
*Spiral steel *Garlock
Steel backed bronze bushings require pressing the bushing into the bore and line reaming to fit.
Nylon is a soft material that slips into the bore and requires no reaming.
Spiral steel bushings can be twisted into the bore by hand and require no reaming.
Garlock bushings require pressing the bushing into a bore and must be reamed with a special reamer.
Kaiser Qwik kit is a steel-on-steel application. All kits include the patented spiral steel bushings that require no reaming. All dimensions have been predetermined to make repairs quick and easy.
Kaiser PLUS is a repair kit with steel backed bronze bushings that require no reaming. The king pin has a patented curvilinear surface on each end for greater load bearing. The curved surface allows clearance for the bushing while pressing it into the bore, achieving a good fit without reaming.
